Anyone ever had this conversation with a toddler?
Adult: "Do you want cereal or pancakes for breakfast?"
Toddler: "I want ice cream."
Adult: "Listen to the choices: pancakes or cereal."
Adult: "Do you want cereal or pancakes for breakfast?"
Toddler: "I want ice cream."
Adult: "Listen to the choices: pancakes or cereal."
Adult: "Do you want cereal or pancakes for breakfast?"
Toddler: "I want ice cream."
I now close this scene prematurely and leave to your imagination where it goes from there. Could be good; could be bad.
I transpose this conversation now to politics.
Adult: "Do you want Obama or Romney for President?"
Answer the question. Unacceptable toddler answers include any name that is NOT Obama or Romney; toddler answers also include: " I am not going to vote." "I will now have a tantrum because I don't like my choices." And the ever popular: "You are mean!"
Do you want Obama or Romney for President? I am only going to ask this once....
But Mommy Pancakes make me throw up all day long, and Cereal makes me throw up and gives me a headache. Mom you know this so please I will have nothing or just water. If i get a spanking for it so be it :).

ReplyDeleteI was feeling reluctant about our choices this Fall but, after the other night, I am all in. I may have to lose some friends because if I see one more quote about "choosing between two evils" I may lose my mind. And we all know that wouldn't be pretty.
I'm guessing Gail got a lot of spankings as a kid!
